Albert the Colobus Monkey's Story
Albert is a classically trained Shakespearean actor but he feels that his talents are being underused and unappreciated in roles like villager #3 and background tree. And definitely that one time he didn't even get a role and had to be a theater usher! Albert refuses to let this discourage him though. He treats every role he is given with complete seriousness and respect.
When he was cast as a tree, he researched for weeks to find the perfect tree to base his performance on and then spent countless hours rehearsing in their presence. Despite being disappointed at not even the tiniest of roles in Oklahoma!, he treated his job as usher as seriously as any part in the play. Albert knows that eventually his dedication to any role he is given, no matter how small, will help him land his dream role as lead actor in one of Shakespeare’s classics.

I have my framed Ira (with a teal background) at my office, and he really brightens the place up. I was originally drawn to Ira because his story dovetails with my own -- nearly always the biggest person in the group -- but I love how his new design hints at both his newfound appreciation for the benefits of his size and his ever-present awareness of that size. It's so neat to see the design and the story complement each other.
I haven't bought this one (yet...), but I just had to throw in the word that it's absolutely gorgeous. Definitely my favorite of all the larger felt art frames.
I'm so happy that my tree will feature one of the new Otis ornaments this year! (And then in January, when I put the tree away, Otis will keep my dining room company with his cake enthusiasm. Squshies have more decorative uses than Christmas trees, after all!). The new design is so fantastic, and I like his big troll butt. (I'm going to start using that phrase out of context.)
I happen to be a squshie fan, so of course I love that I get to color some of my favorite characters. But my favorite thing about the coloring book is actually that even on the complicated pattern book (vs. the kids' one, which is just awesome for my kids), the design isn't too intricate. You know what I mean -- sometimes other coloring books have such intricate designs that it hurts my eyes to try to color them. But the Squshies book is the perfect balance of gorgeous design and eye comfort. My mom loves the book, too, for exactly this reason. Great gift for anyone who's interested in coloring but maybe doesn't always get excited about eye strain.
Peaches was one of the original members of my squshies menagerie, and she remains one of my favorites. I'm always drawn to the stories, and there's just something so awesome about a pug (a girl pug at that) having a career as a heavy equipment operator.
I love Agnes! My kids begged and begged for me to get her (she's not a kids' toy, I know, but they still like to encourage me to get colorful squshies to hang around the house), but I was won over by her story. She reminds me of my grandpa -- he, too, mixes cereal together to create new and interesting combinations.
I love my Giuseppe the llama! He plays well with my other Squshies, his adorably startled expression is the cutest.
Everyone who has seen this regal owl has been amazed at its beauty. They have oohed and aahed and asked my newest Squshie. I really love his eyes and the delicate depth created with his feathers. The background and tree are perfect, too.
