Time for Meety Monday and another artist interview. This week we're going to meet Shawna from Scrawny Girl. I've gotten to know Shawna from the Indie A List community. She makes adorable yet quirky paintings, stickers and prints. Her work is really fun and I'm so excited to have Shawna talking to us on the blog today.

Who are you? and where can we find your amazing work?
Hi! I’m Shawna Miller, the creator behind Scrawny Girl, where I make kawaii and quirky illustrated stickers, cards, prints, zines, and more! I have a fatal attraction to cuteness, that you can see reflected in my art and everyday life. I’m addicted to coffee, Hello Kitty, cupcakes, manga, and dying my hair.

How did you get started doing this thing you do?
I actually have a Studio Art degree and I'm certified to be an elementary school teacher. I worked in a pottery studio and taught art lessons in a private studio until I moved to Lubbock. When I became a mom, I was able to stay home and get back to arty things during nap time. It's a way for me to keep my sanity and help supplement our household income.
What's your workplace like?
It's always a mess, and even messier when my daughter gets in! It's an extra bedroom in our house where I run and hide to have some quiet time. I have a big table where I paint, and a futon for being lazy on. There's also a closet that no one is allowed to open or my craft supply hoard may bury them alive.
What materials and tools do you use to make your art?
I mostly use watercolors and ink pens. I recently did a post about all my favorites. :)
Where do you find your inspiration too create?
Most of my inspiration comes from kawaii culture, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and her wildly creative music videos, sweets, and anime.

What kind of pet person are you?
I'm a closet cat lady that owns a dog that thinks it's a human.
Jeans, Khakis, or skirts?
I've been wearing lots of dresses and skirts these days.
If you could live in a fictional world, which one would it be?
Hardest question ever! I'm going to go with Animal Crossing lol mostly because I've been playing it a lot these days and it's so cute!
What's one of your guilty pleasures?
Korean Dramas! I love watching them, but then I get obsessed!
What's your favorite snack while working?
S'more pop tarts and coffee....always coffee.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Japan! I'm obsessed with their history and culture.
If stranded on an island, what 3 things would you want to bring?
Sunscreen (I sunburn easily), a big pile of books, and a big pile of donuts with endless coffee....maybe that's 4 things, but you can't have donuts without coffee.
