New Felt Animals - Felt Birds, Hero Hippos and Shadow Boxes

Our first show of the year starts tomorrow! We'll be at Wondercon, in Artist's Alley table 280, at the Anaheim Convention Center April l8th-20th. If you've been following us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook you have may have seen some of the fun new pieces we've been working on. All of these will be available for the first time this weekend at Wondercon.
Secretary Bird Hoop Art
First up, we've been experimenting with our hoop art a bit, so far focusing on felt birds. We love birds here at Squshies, but unfortunately we can never seem to quite get the design right for bird ornaments. We have a growing collection of not quite right sketches. We thought birds might be fun fun to try and tackle in a more realistic fashion, with hoop art.
Cockatoo bird hoop art
We've only made 2 bird hoops so far but we're really excited about the possibilities for more! The Secretary Bird Hoop and the Cockatoo Hoop will be available this weekend at Wondercon.

Making hoop art is great,  but we wanted to explore other possibilities for felt wall art. We want to be able to tell stories with our characters so we've started exploring the idea of shadow boxes. We've got a 13" x 13" shadow box featuring Reginald and Beauregard. We also have and a 8.5" X 11" shadow box featuring Otis the Cake Troll.
Iron HippoThe Incredible Hippo
What's a comic book convention with out super heroes? Beauregard didn't want to go to Wondecon unless he could cosplay, as everyone!
Captain HippoBeauregard, Hippo of Thunder
Beauregard has dressed himself as most of the Avengers
Agent HippoHippo Fury
He even dressed up as some of his favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents
Hippo the Trickster
He even dressed up as a villain! Beauregard is pretty excited about his first comic book convention!
needle felt beast
We've also got a new needle felt piece for Wondercon! Hopefully the first in a long line of fancy beasts. Jason had a lot of fun making this guy.
