This was my view on Saturday, 400 feet above the San Diego Zoo Safari Park!
We took at 1 day trip to the Safari Park on Saturday with Jason's mom. The only time she had ever been to the park was for our wedding so she's never had a chance to see very much of the park. We treated her to a day at the Safari Park, and she treated us to a balloon safari.
It was really amazing to be up so high and see everything from a different perspective. I'm terrified of Ferris Wheels so I was a little worried I'd be scared the whole time, but I wasn't! I really enjoyed it. I guess I can rule out heights as to why I find Ferris Wheels so frightening. Why are they so scary? Why?
We saw lots of animal babies on this trip to the park. So much cute! Most of the baby animals were in the African Tram area so they were a bit far to get good pictures. We did get to enjoy an adorable baby warthog battle though.
We also saw some soon to be baby Grey Crowned Cranes!
We also stopped by the new Lemur exhibit that you can walk through. We went during nap time. One of these times we are going to visit them when they are up and about! When we walked by later in the day, one of the lemurs was sniffing and licking people's legs and shoes. We also made sure to check out the bird show.
Walking out of the bird we happened upon a animal encounter spot. It was only going to be a minute until the keeper talk started so we decided to stop and see what the critter would be. So glad we did because the animal encounter was...the honey badger!!!
One of my favorite animals to see at the San Diego Zoo is the honey badger. I was actually a little sad about not visiting the zoo on this trip because I wouldn't get a chance to see the honey badger. I was so excited when we found out it was going to be the animal they were talking about. We got to learn about the honey badger up close for about 15 minutes while watching her destroy all the things they hid food in for her.
We also happened to catch a really cool animal encounter with one of my favorite birds, the Tawny Frogmouth on our way out of the park.
I have a lot of favorite birds. The Rüppell's Griffon Vulture and the Shoebill are also in my list of favorite birds.
Another highlight of this particular Safari Park trip was watching the Okapi trying to get some leaves off a tree just out of reach with its really long tongue.
