This past weekend was the Jackalope Arts Fair in Pasadena, California. This was the fair's inaugural event and it was very exciting to be a part of. The event was two days and had so many amazing vendors. It was very well organized with a lovely spacious layout. The event founders were super friendly.
Despite the super rainy day on Saturday we had a great show. The attendees were all lovely people and there was a surprisingly good turn out Saturday despite the rain.We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the show. We are looking forward to the next one in November. Jackalope Arts will also be hosting shows in Phoenix and Denver. If you live near those areas I highly recommend attending!
Of course since we were going to be at an event called Jackalope Arts, we had to make some Jackalopes! Meet the newest Squshie, Hilda the pretzel loving Jackalope. If you follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter you may have read about how we changing some of our processes and techniques for making our critters. Hilda is the very first Squshie to be offered in the new style.
We've also been using our new techniques to make new felt pictures. We made some special Jackalope portraits for the event, both of which found homes over the weekend. We loved how they turned out. They were so much fun to create we couldn't resist making a few more.
All of the still available portraits can be found in the wall art collection. We already brainstorming and researching more fun animals to make in this style, as well as fun images using the Squshies characters. What are some animals you would like to see felt portraits of?
Now to get back to making! We've got a busy few weeks ahead of us as we prep for Patchwork Show on May 24th in Santa Ana and for our first time at Califur in Irving, June 5th-7th! Be sure to visit our event page for the most up to date info on our upcoming shows.
