Kelly was selling her artwork, but also doing crochet on the side that people were a lot more interested in. Health issues were making it harder and harder to keep up, and David was getting interested in knitting as a new challenge while adjusting to living with disabilities from Marine Corps service, so we agreed that it would be better to run a business together. Craftypodes has changed with us as our focuses have shifted to thread work. Kelly does hand embroidery and David does cross-stitch now.

What's your workplace like?
Our workplace is pretty much all of our house except the kitchen and bathroom. We don't have kids, so we don't have to work around little hands and feet. The kind of work we do is great for sitting back and stitching while watching TV. The sewing machine has a corner where it stays set up. We have a microwave cart that holds crafting supplies in the cabinet and provides a good surface for spreading things out to cut or iron instead of using it for a microwave. You could say we live in our studio.
What materials and tools do you use to make your art?
Needles and thread are essential! We also use felt, embroidery hoops, and fabric. There's always Aida cloth on hand, as well as other fabrics. Plastic canvas, scissors, yarn... there are a lot of supplies and materials.
Where do you find your inspiration too create?
Most of our current work is inspired by things we're interested in, such as science and video games. There are also those times when something just sounds like a cool idea, so we figure out how to make it with thread.

What color are your bedroom walls?
Light blue.
What animal do you fear?
Everyone should have a healthy fear of bears. At least enough to stop you from trying to hug one. That said, bears are awesome and totally deserving of our love!
If you could be a wild animal for a day, what animal would it be?
Kelly - A bear!
David - A panther.
What kind of pet person are you?
Kelly - Dogs. Also, cats. Fish! I had a cockatiel I really loved. I like turtles. Gerbils and mice are awesome pets!
David - I've always been a cat person, but I'm liking dogs more and more these days.

If you could live in a fictional world, which one would it be?
We're still waiting for owls to bring our acceptance letters for Hogwarts. Alternatively, living on one of the fantasy wildlife preserves from the Fablehaven books would be awesome.

David - I'd like to see the moon landing live.

If you have a box of popsicles which color do you eat first? Why?
Kelly - The red ones. I'd really just like to buy a whole box of red ones.
David - Blue. I'm not sure why I do that.

What's one of your guilty pleasures?
Anything that gives you pleasure without hurting someone else is hard to feel guilty about.
Do you have any superstitions?David - Not really, no.
Kelly - None that I really believe in, but I'll say company is coming if a broom falls over, or I'll do certain things when the opportunity is in front of me because of it being something "everyone knows" is good luck.
What's your favorite snack while working?
Snack time is break time. Stitching while snacking is not advised. Something small and light, like some crackers or trail mix. Maybe a banana or some cut up watermelon.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Our house was Kelly's grandparents' house, and Kelly's dad has put a lot of work into fixing it up to our preferences, so we're happy where we are.
If stranded on an island, what 3 things would you want to bring?
A teleportation device, and the other two are irrelevant.
